Connecting Our Village Through Celebration
Since 1985, the residents of Selborne have participated in the annual Selborne Progressive Supper – an evening which brings people together for a three course, roaming dinner party, hosted in the homes of Selborne residents. It’s a great way to get to know people around the village or meet up with old friends.
It’s always one of the highlights of the village social calendar and very well supported, so get your sign-up form in now! Paper forms available at the Whites Café at the Wakes or through your doors shortly, or downloadable here <click to download>.

40 is a ruby anniversary so its time to think red. Wear something red, think red, be inspired by red…..lets just not all choose to cook beetroot!
What are we doing to celebrate the 40th anniversary? THINK RUBY!!
What is a progressive supper?
We start the evening together in one location for canapes and fizz. Last year about 120 people descended upon one beautiful Selborne garden to get the party started.
Then you’ll be told at canapes which small group you are in for starters and which house you’re going to, as we ‘progress’ around the village. People participating in a couple / pair stay together so you’ll be with 2 or 3 different pairs for each course.
At the end of the starter your host will tell you which house to go to next for main course. The process repeats for pudding, then, if you have the stamina, the evening ends as we reconvene in a central venue for coffee - or something stronger - to compare stories of our evening at this unique, communal village event.

Do I have to be a masterchef?
No. Definitely not. If you are, brilliant. If not, cheat -– just hide the boxes and claim all credit! For newbies, a copy of the famous Progressive Supper Cookbook is available to help with suggestions. It is not required to host in your first year unless you are keen.
The organisers will tell all hosts in advance which course they are catering, how many people for, and all dietary restrictions and preferences for your guests.
If you like you can have a monetary contribution for your hosting costs, and the organisers can supply wine, from our friends at the Naked Grape, to help with hosting if preferred.
The cost for each person who participates is £15 per person. If you feel you can only come to canapes then there is an option to do so on the form.
